If you’re like me… then you weren’t alive in the 1980’s. Which means that we missed one of the tent-pole film franchises of the decade. Mad Max! Here’s a look at the Mad Max franchise today, leading up to Mad Max: Fury Road the latest installment in the series.

Mad Max (1979) – Buy It Nowmadmax1

Set in the post apocalyptic Australian outback – George Miller’s original film introduced us to the world of blood, guts, gears and oil.

Mad Max: The Road Warrior (1981) – Buy It Nowmadmax2

The Road Warrior adopts a more Western motif. In Mad Max 2 we learn more about Max’s back story and the series of events that lead to the first film.

Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (1985) – Buy It Nowmadmax3

Most notable about the third installment? Tina Turner co-stars. It’s hard for a sequel to live up to the original, its even harder for a 3rd installment. Still Thunderdome is worth a watch as it closes the chapter on the original Mad Max trilogy.

Today, a full 30 years since the release of Thunderdome, and almost 36 years since the original film, director George Miller has returned to reboot the Mad Max franchise. This time, the film stars Tom Hardy, who you may Remember from Inception and The Dark Knight Rises.

What’s fascinating is that creator George Miller is still running the show, but this time with the added fire power of three decades of special effects and CGI. We’re super excited to see how this one plays out – if it’s even half as exciting as the newest trailer, then i’m smitten.
